SOIL AND SOILMAKERS

 

 

Pupils investigate soil and the animals, plants, fungi and micro-organisms involved in the natural process of decay and soil production. They use hands-on investigation of different soil types to discover what soil is made of and then explore the park in search of soilmakers.

  • Rocks - Compare and group together different kind of rocks on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties.

  • Rocks - Recognise that soils are made from rocks and organic matter.

We do not do any microscope work in this workshop. This workshop can be combined with the workshop. Rocks and weathering as an all-day workshop (with a picnic lunch break).
